Pioneer Tunnel Santa Train

Join us for a magical 45-minute round trip journey on the only nighttime Christmas Train in the Coal Region!

Upon arrival, you’ll check in at the Gift Shop where each passenger will receive a souvenir ticket. You’ll take your ticket to our Conductor at our Staudenmeier Train Station where he will punch it and collect the ticket stub. The Grinch will be waiting with him for photos before you board the train to begin your journey.

You’ll ride with The Grinch on a festively lit and decorated train pulled by a 1927 steam locomotive to visit with Mr. and Mrs. Claus at their Christmas Retreat. Christmas music and holiday cheer will fill your open air car as you make your three-quarter mile journey up Mahanoy Mountain.

Mr. and Mrs. Claus greet you as you disembark and direct you into their heated Christmas Retreat. You’ll feel a warm welcome, and each child will receive a free treat. You’ll visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus to take photos and make lasting memories.

After your visit, you’ll return to your train for a ride back down the mountain. We’ll have hot cocoa and coffee available for purchase inside our Gift Shop to warm you back up.

Keep an eye on our Facebook page for the Santa Train schedule and other announcements. Our Gift Shop opens at 4:00 pm, so come early and get some of your holiday shopping done. We have many unique items that everyone on your Christmas list will enjoy.
