SANTA TRAINS RETURN 2025!

The popular Coal Region Christmas Train returns to Pioneer Tunnel for 2025. Join us for a magical 45-minute round-trip journey with the Grinch on a brightly decorated 1927 Steam Locomotive to visit with Mr. and Mrs. Claus at the Christmas Retreat.

When you arrive at Pioneer Tunnel, you'll check in at our gift shop to receive your souvenir tickets. Then you'll head to the Staudenmeier Train Station and present your ticket to our Conductor. The Grinch can't wait to greet you and take photos with you. You'll board our a festively decorated OPEN AIR CAR steam train where you'll enjoy the sounds of Christmas music and Holiday Cheer as you travel 3/4 mile up Mahanoy Mountain.

Mr. and Mrs. Claus will be waiting to greet you as you disembark the train, and they'll invite you into the warmth of their Christmas Retreat. You'll get your photos taken with Mr. and Mrs. Claus, and they'll give a free treat to all children in your party. After your visit, you'll climb back aboard our steam train to return to the Pioneer Tunnel gift shop.

We'll have Food Vendors on select nights with coffee & hot cocoa for purchase. Look for the schedule on our Facebook page. The gift shop will open at 4:00 pm on Friday and 1:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday. Plan to do some holiday shopping as we offer many unique souvenirs and gifts. We'll also have Rock Candy, Coal Candy, and Clear Toy Candy Pops (while supplies last).

PLEASE REMEMBER TO DRESS WARM & BRING A BLANKET.

"WALK-INS ARE WELCOME". Please contact us for availability at 570-875-3850, or secure your tickets ahead of time at https://www.tickettailor.com/events/pioneertunnel/1928704

EVERYONE MUST CHECK-IN AT THE GIFT SHOP TO RECEIVE THEIR TICKETS TO BOARD THE TRAIN, AND ALL CHILDREN MUST HAVE A TICKET TO BOARD THE TRAIN. THANK YOU.
