November 1 & 2, 2025 - Hand on the Throttle
This is your opportunity to step into the engineer's shoes for 30 minutes and get hands on the throttle training while you operate the Pioneer Tunnel's vintage mine Lokie LVCC #123. Under the tutelage of an experienced steam engineer, you will operate our narrow-gauge 0-4-0 switcher up our 3/4-mile track on the side of Mahanoy Mountain and back down. While you fulfill your dream of being a steam engineer, you will also be supporting the restoration of our second Lokie, the LVCC #119.
